Poolside Patio Replacement & Access Improvements, Cornwall
This project involved the removal and replacement of an old, uneven patio surrounding a private outdoor swimming pool. The existing paving had become worn and unstable over time, with uneven slabs and vegetation growth between joints creating an unsafe walking surface.
The homeowner wanted a durable, level patio that would improve safety and accessibility while enhancing the overall appearance of the pool area.
Our team carried out a full removal of the old concrete and paving slabs before installing new large-format patio slabs with improved drainage and fall away from the pool.
The Problem
The original patio had several issues that made the area unsafe and impractical:

1. Breaking Out the Old Patio

The first stage involved removing the existing paving slabs and concrete base surrounding the pool.
Due to the thickness of the original concrete, heavy-duty breaking equipment was required to safely remove the old material and prepare the area for new installation.
2. Site Preparation

Once the old patio was removed:

All debris and broken concrete were cleared

Ground levels were adjusted

A new compacted base was prepared

Levels were carefully set to create a fall away from the pool for drainage
